Read: Exodus
2:15-25
And it came to pass in process of time, that the
king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage,
and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. Exodus
2:23
When I was
in high school, I was blessed NOT to be the kid who had to peel his face off
every night, then put it back on every morning, because he had acne so bad you
didn’t even know what his face really looked like. I wasn’t like the girls who
had so much caulk on their faces that when they coughed, their faces cracked.
But – I know what it is like to have pimples. I usually only had one or two
pimples at a time, but with a good telescope, you could probably see them from
outer space. They would get huge! You know how it is. It feels like every time
someone is looking at you he is not looking at you or listening to what you are
saying. Instead he is looking at that giant pimple plastered right across your
forehead, tucked nicely in the corner of your mouth, or nestled sweetly in the
center of your cheek. And it was never just a small one that could be covered
with a little cream. It always had to be the one that had its own zip code and
stayed uninvited for weeks on end.
But the one thing I noticed about pimples
is that they always eventually went away. They were quite unsightly while they
lasted, and they brought a lot of embarrassment, but they always passed away. Sixty
times in the New Testament and 336 times
in the Old Testament, the Bible uses the phrase, “And it came to pass.” That is
a pretty good indication that when problems show up in your life uninvited, and
they hang around making your life miserable, that they will eventually pass.
Sure, they mar your picture-perfect life while they last, but they will pass.
It is easy to get discouraged when you
face difficulties in your life, but I’m sure you can remember past experiences
when you were so worried about a problem, or so distraught over a situation in
your life, that now you can look back on and laugh about. That is the way that
most difficulties end up. Remember how the world was crashing down around you
when that pimple ruined your existence? Situations like that are laughable now.
So just remember, you might be struggling
now, and it might feel like there is no way out from under the burden, but it
will pass – just like everything always does.
Quote of
the day: “In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It
goes on.”
